=============================
A primary mission of the Aerospace Museum of California is to provide educational opportunities that will stimulate young people. Three of these programs include:
Aerospace Learning Center - A state-of-the-art experience with new technologies that excite students about aviation, science and math. This class is designed to be an introduction to flight. Subjects covered are weather, forces of lift, navigation, instrumentation and GPS technology using computer simulators and software. Each student will have the opportunity to pilot an aircraft using a flight simulator.
Teachers’ Resource Center & Aviation Library - Internet connectivity to NASA, JPL, and others.
Summer Camps- We conduct several summer camps each year. Check the "Calendar" page to see when our camps will be held this year. The curriculum for the camps include:
Module 1: LANGUAGE - how do pilots understand each other?
Module 2: AIRCRAFT BASICS - what are the parts of an airplane?
Module 3: FLIGHT CONTROLS - how does a pilot control the airplane?
Module 4: FORCES OF FLIGHT - how does an airplane fly?
Module 5: WEIGHT & GRAVITY - can an airplane be too heavy to fly?
Module 6: BASIC FLIGHT DATA - what do all those gauges do?
Module 7: WEATHER - how does the weather affect flying?
Module 8: FLIGHT PLANNING - how does a pilot know where to fly?
Module 9: TRAFFIC PATTERNS - how do pilots know where to land?
Module 10: COMPUTER TOOLS - can students fly without leaving the classroom?
Module 11: AVIATION IN HISTORY - who are the pioneers and heros of aviation?
On the final day of the camp, participants will visit the Sacramento Metro Fire Department, McClellan Field Division, and the US Coast Guard Station. Additionally, each participant will take a short flight with a registered EAA pilot.
